In 2025, Bulgarian universities once again offer excellent opportunities to study Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, or Pharmacy – even if your high school grades are not perfect!
Early preparation is highly recommended, but even last-minute applicants still have a chance of securing a place – as long as the deadlines are met.
Winter Semester 2025/26 – Application Deadlines
For those interested in starting their studies at one of the three Bulgarian medical universities offering winter semester intakes, the following final application deadlines apply:

Summer Semester 2026 – Application Deadlines
Only Medical University of Pleven offers a summer semester intake. Key dates:

Entrance exams: Late September to November (in Pleven or online)

Semester begins: February 1, 2026
Important: Pleven’s deadline is almost half a year before the semester begins – plan early! In exceptional cases, we may still be able to secure a spot after the official deadline. Contact us for details!
Application Documents – Plan at Least Two Months Ahead
All required documents must be submitted in correct form (some translated and legalized) by the application deadline. Even minor mistakes can lead to rejection. Based on our experience, the process of preparing documents in your home country, sending them to Bulgaria, and ensuring proper processing takes at least two additional months.
EU Citizens vs. Non-EU Applicants

EU citizens benefit from a simplified process.

Non-EU applicants must have their documents additionally approved by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, which takes extra time. Earlier deadlines apply here!
Transfer Students – Apply Even Earlier!
If you’re planning to transfer into a higher semester, you should submit your application well before the deadline for first-year students. The start of classes for higher semesters may be earlier, and the recognition of previous coursework (completed outside Bulgaria) can be time-consuming. Again, non-EU applicants face additional bureaucratic steps.
